The versatility and adaptability of King Living's Jasper created a unique solution for Nickolas Gurtler when designing a theatre room in his recent project.
Nickolas' team recently undertook the renovation of an elegant townhouse in the leafy riverside suburb of Applecross in Perth. They wanted the screening room to feel balanced and layered. It was important that the space didn't feel like a typical ’theatre room’ but be an adaptable space for relaxing and entertaining as well.
With a primarily grey and white palette, they layered black, espresso and gold to add some of their signature glamour whilst retaining the contemporary aesthetic. They selected cushions that had a strong geometric or natural pattern in a strict black and white palette to place along the sofa individually instead of in clusters to give the entire sofa a sculptural element.
“We selected the Jasper because of its clean lines and versatility. We have an oddly proportioned space and by combining the modules we were able to create a contemporary configuration that fit perfectly."
There are so many ways to relax in this configuration, and the moveable back cushions allow for a variety of situations.
The sofa sits atop a plush silk rug which elevates the level of comfort whilst gold thread ottomans are placed casually for additional seating. The drinks tray with cocktail shaker and decanters are ready to serve drinks whilst enjoying a film, or simply a game of chess.
Remarkable photography of a vintage Jaguar and Porsche were selected not only for the elegant curves that appear in each photograph, but also for their reference to old-world glamour. We continued this feeling throughout the space, and indeed the entire project."
The sofa was covered in King Living's in house fabric Club. The range was introduced to King Living because of its easy-care philosophy. With its in-built stain repellent, common household stains like tea, coffee, grease and chocolate are easily removed with a clean cloth and soapy water.
Club is a jacquard weave, a combination of two fine chenille yarns gives it a soft luxurious touch. The base cloth features a slub in the warp and weft that gives the Club its character. The composition is 85% Polyester 15% Cotton. Club is suitable for both Hospitality and Residential applications as it has been given a 69,500 martindale rub result from the AWTA.
King Living have recently extended the colour range of Club with 6 new colours. Following global trends, we have added an ever so cool Silver, forever classic Navy denim blue, a Coral, the new hot colour Masala, a luxurious Sable and a warm Charcoal.
Made in Europe from a mill that has successfully supplied the global commercial market since the 1970’s, Club is a welcome addition to King Living's Premium fabric collection.
